Isolation, non-return or flow-control function Connection, bore, installation direction and actuation Coolant, wetted materials, pressure and temperature Operating or failure state and acceptance criteria Quantity, maintenance access and associated components

  • Function and loop position
  • Interfaces, drawing revisions and envelope
  • Coolant, materials and seals
  • Temperature, pressure and flow conditions
  • Testing and documentation
  • Quantities and delivery requirements

Overview

Liquid-cooling valve selection begins with the function: isolation, non-return or flow adjustment. These functions are not interchangeable and are reviewed against a defined position in the loop.

Configuration and selection

Specify connection, bore, flow direction, actuation, wetted materials and operating conditions. Confirm the required failure or shut-off behavior and the test method for the selected valve type.

Information to prepare

  • Isolation, non-return or flow-control function
  • Connection, bore, installation direction and actuation
  • Coolant, wetted materials, pressure and temperature
  • Operating or failure state and acceptance criteria
  • Quantity, maintenance access and associated components

Configuration and quotation

Include the drawing or specification revision and identify any requirements that are still to be confirmed. Available configurations, testing and documentation are confirmed with quotation.

Configuration options and selection inputs

Interface

Valve interface and size must be selected by loop position and exact product family.

Reference: Watts — family reference

Test conditions

Claims on pressure loss, media, and durability require exact product data and test conditions.

Reference: Watts — family reference

Bore

Connection and internal flow path vary by valve family; do not infer bore from nominal tube/thread size.

Reference: Parker Hannifin — family reference

Seal

EPDM examples; nitrile examples; fluorocarbon examples

Reference: Parker Hannifin — family reference

Actuation

manual isolation; passive non-return; pressure-independent regulation; powered modulation

Flow direction

Flow direction is function-specific: some ball-valve examples are bidirectional while check valves are directional.
